Tornado Survivor

Image
This week was a very interesting week, we had so many awesome moments and some that have been the hardest to tackle as a missionary.  To start off though, the ghost. The ghost was pretty active this week but again, some pretty funny instances; I think that it just wants to supply content to my emails and it's working.  This week included the following: stepped in a puddle (cleaned off the smoothie on my shoe so was this actually epic), phone fell on my face at 2 am, 1000 bike problems, naked people in south dallas, Hales crashed, too many cancellations, McDonald's skimped me on my fries, landlords daughter might be a witch (?). It was a pretty good week for the good ole' ghost.  Tuesday night was crazy. Within a 30 minute span there was tornado siren, lightning storm, a flash flood warning and a guy asking us for weed. It felt like the end of the world here in Dallas but it was also the coolest thing to experience. Nevertheless, the tornado missed us, the floods didn...

New Year, New Continent?

Big News!! Wednesday morning we had interviews with President and Sister Farley. When we logged onto the zoom call, sister Farley says, "Elder Fuell are you excited?" I was pretty confused so I asked what she was talking about. Next thing I know she says, "You're going to Paraguay!" Initially, I was super shocked & honestly still can't really believe it. With that being said, I'm supposed to be getting on a plane to Asuncion Paraguay Jan 1st 2021!!!  As excited as I am to start sleeping in fly-nets in 100 degree weather I can't help but feel a little sad about leaving Dallas. With just 6 weeks I've grown a great love for the new friends and people I've met. I know even though my time here has been short, I was sent here for a reason and I still have 6 more weeks to get some work done.  Now that that's out of the way, the ghost. This week included: More bike problems, more sweat, a broken refrigerator door handle, smoothie all over my ...

OH OH Manatee

The ghost is becoming kind of a homie because it left us alone for most part of the week but it still had a few strikes: 2 people fell off bikes, my bike tire popped 15 mins before writing this email, ac broke, racism, we have a witch now, & spiders all over in the car.  This week was filled with some of the craziest and longest bike rides of my life, but it feels super good after you've been inside your apartment most of the day and I'm getting pretty good at hopping curbs so it's only a matter of time before I go flying over the handlebars. With this biking came a lot, I mean a LOT of sweating. I don't know if it's the humidity or what but it's always gnarly.  While we were biking back from the cemetery for service I looked back and my comp was mid-air flying over his handlebars. It was a miracle because he didn't rip any of his clothes and left the scene with a sub-par elbow scratch. Goes to show again that god is more powerful than our mildly friendl...

Henry & his chuletas de cerdo!

¡Mis amigos! First and foremost, here are the updates on the ghost: our fire alarms have gone off twice, our heater shutting off, some random European chocolates found on our dinner table and no one was home to put them there (we were kinda hyped about this but the chocolates were nasty, still a thoughtful gift from the ghost though), 2 dog poop steps, car battery dying, and a missed bus which isn't entirely the ghosts fault but I'm blaming it nonetheless. Other than the ghost, this week was super great!  On friday I got the opportunity to give my first blessing to a member who is in a wheelchair. Him and his mom were so thankful and the spirit felt there was so strong. I was a little nervous about getting all the words right but I had faith and I know god did the rest.  Edgar, the pastor from Colombia we've been teaching has been a dream. We were able to teach him twice this week and he really grasped onto the book of mormon and loved the fact that it was based in the ...
