Week 4

The MTC is flying by! It's crazy to think next week will be my last full week. I've really enjoyed my time a lot. It was really hard at first but as I started to get my groove it's been a blast. The lessons I've already been able to learn not just about the gospel, but about myself have been incredible. Please forgive me with this email because not a lot has happened since last week but I promise I'm trying my best to remember.  It's crazy thinking back to the first week and how much my Spanish has improved. Don't get me wrong, I'm nowhere near fluent but I can at least understand the main idea of what people are trying to say and I've gotten pretty good at understanding text. I've been reading a chapter or two out of el Libro de Mormon todas dias en Espanol and it's been helping a ton with pronunciation.  This week has been filled with some of the best memories so far during the MTC but also a lot of hard work. Elder Ethington and I did a ...

Week 3

Not too much has happened this week but it was still a good week! I've spent most of it trying to memorize Spanish and reading my Libro de Mormon which has actually been pretty sweet. Again, Spanish can be vomit worthy a lot of the time but it can also be very rewarding when you can articulate what you want to say in another language.  I know I say this every week but my district is full of wonderful people, we have an unofficial district call on Sundays and p-days which I always look forward to. They're all super accepting so it's easy to be myself and not feel like I'm being judged for anything I say. I can definitely feel some of these relationships growing into some lasting friendships.  My Book of Mormon reading has been a big highlight of this week. Pre-mission, most of the time I would read to say that I read and then I'd get on with whatever else I would be doing, but I actually look forward to my personal study. Every time I read I swear it's exactly wh...

Week 2

Hello everybody! Week two in the home MTC was even better than the first! We taught a lot of lessons in spanish and even talked to a few people from colombia and mexico! They were being paid by the Mexico MTC to act like non members so we could teach them in spanish. It can be pretty scary but it always ends up just fine and is always quite an experience. My companion Elder Ethington (Sethington) has a really bad connection a lot of the time so we usually have to plan for him to cut out at some point during the lesson, it can be tricky but it always keeps us prepared!  This week brought some new high's and some new low's. There are some days where I have no motivation to do anything and I want to vomit whenever I see any word in spanish. You don't have a companion next to you to help you to keep motivated so it makes it really important to be self reliant, which can be very difficult but as long as I accept my new life with faith and hope, I will be blessed.  Other...

Week 1

Subject: First Week! Life in the Home MTC is really not all that bad! I wake up at 6 and try to go on a run, eat some breakfast and then start my first class at 8 AM. This class goes until about 11 AM and then I usually have a little bit of a break to eat some lunch, do companion study, language study etc. At first I was really worried about having too much free time and boredom, but it's the exact opposite! I worry that I don't have enough time to get everything done that I need to!!  My second class doesn't start until 4:30 PM and then it finishes around 7-7:30. After this I usually spend the rest of the day hanging out with my family or doing some more scripture study. Learning a new language is really difficult! I've been able to say the first vision and pray en espanol! It's all basic stuff but i'm really happy about it jajaja. I can truly say that the gift of tongues is very real. I couldn't imagine that I would be able to hold even a basic conversati...
